The act or fact of entertaining; the state or fact of being entertained; amusement.
Entertaiment is the art of arousing and amusing oneself or others, and it can be done through many forms of media and activities. Some examples are listening to music, reading books, magazines, or poetry, playing sports and video games, watching movies, or creating or appreciating visual art. It may also include attending live performances, such as theater, dance, or comedy shows, and visiting museums and other exhibitions. The term is derived from the Latin suffix -mentum, added to verb stems to form nouns denoting the effect or result of an action (as in amazement, betterment, and merriment). Entertainment may serve a variety of purposes, including relaxation, escape, delay, or catharsis.
