The people have a right to know the process of governmental decision-making. They also have a right to review the documents and statistics that lead to those decisions. The public should not be thwarted in those rights by concealing information under the cloak of confidentiality or secrecy.
The new law will require drugmakers to disclose prices to Medicare and other insurers and will bar pharmacies from skipping discounts on drugs for cash-paying customers. It also will allow the state to sue companies that fail to provide the data it needs.
