A daily news is a publication that is published every day and contains information about current events. It is usually accompanied by photographs and other visuals. Some notable examples include The New York Times and The Washington Post. These publications are considered to be important sources of information for the public. The term daily news is often used to refer to the local edition of a newspaper, but it can also be applied to national or international newspapers.
The Yale Daily News is the nation’s oldest college daily newspaper, founded in 1878. The News covers campus and community news from the Yale University campus, as well as the surrounding city of New Haven, Connecticut. It features national and world news, academic and cultural coverage, and special issues celebrating the diverse Yale and New Haven communities. The News is editorially and financially independent.
Despite being in a tough circulation battle with rival tabloid The New York Post and struggling with declining readership, the Daily News became one of America’s most influential papers by the mid-century, reaching its peak in 1947 when it was the ninth most widely circulated newspaper in the United States. The News is known for its large headlines and photos and short articles. Today the paper is owned by tronc, and is headquartered in New York City’s Manhattan District at 4 New York Plaza. It is known for its moderate to liberal bias and has a reputation for being more sensational than the conservative The New York Post.
From 1929 to 1995, the newspaper was based in the Daily News Building at 220 East 42nd Street (later 5 Manhattan West). This art deco structure, designed by John Mead Howells and Raymond Hood, is a historic landmark. The building was used as the Daily Planet headquarters in the first two Superman films, and it is still home to the television station WPIX.
In addition to the daily print edition, the News publishes a website and mobile app, as well as multiple other weekly and monthly titles, including The Week. The Weekly is a twice-daily summary of global news and commentary, sourced from dozens of the world’s most trusted news sources. Each issue is curated by The Week editors to provide you with the essential news you need to understand what’s happening, why it matters and how it affects you.
