Despite the economic turmoil of recent times consumers continue to purchase new releases, rent movies, download music and visit venues for entertainment purposes. The internet has opened new opportunities for consumers to create their own content for the purpose of entertaiment, a trend that is reflected in the current popularity of amateur recording artists and filmmakers. Bates and Ferri (2010) define entertainment as an activity that is understood objectively, communicates between text and audience, involves external stimulus, offers pleasure and requires the presence of a passive audience.
